Up To Date

Let's see. How about some updates? I have a few.
Quick version, we're loving Ohio and doing awesome!
For more details go ahead and keep reading, but it's long.  You've been warned.

The Move
Last week our family split up for a couple days and made the long 2,009 mile trek out to our new home.  Tim and Reed traveled via the freeway route.  They made the entire trip in one 34 hour stretch taking turns napping and only stopping for gas. Serious troopers.

Brinlee and I came via air a few days later.  Our trip was only about 8 hours, and we napped together  :)  This was Brinlee's first time on an "awe-paleen" (airplane) and to say she loved it is a total understatement.  I had planned for the worst, but ended up having a blast.  She did awesome!  In fact, she took it better than I did I think.  She couldn't get enough of the "funny tummy" feeling.  Baby Peanut on the other hand did not care for it much.  I spent most of the trip feeling pretty woozy.  All around not bad though.  It sure was fun!

New Home Sweet Home
Boy, thinking back on the trip it already feels like it was forever ago... we are mostly settled in and loving the area so far.  Brinlee already has a little boyfriend down the street, and we have some awesome neighbors.  We still have unpacking/organizing/cleaning/furniture arranging/decorating to do, but our house is already starting to feel like home.

So far, Ohio feels good.  We feel like our family will be very happy here!

The Big 5
On August 1st we celebrated 5 fantastic years together!
Remember these kids?

Ok I guess we haven't changed that much... and we still feel like kids (ok, we still really are kids).  It's so weird that we have been married five years.  Not that it's a super long time... but what an adventure it has been already!  In fact, since August 2009:

     - We've lived in 3 states, 5 cities, and 6 houses.
     - We've changed 2 very flat tires.
     - We've worked 5 different jobs.
     - Our biggest purchases have been a laptop, TV, and camera.
     - We made one super cute little kiddo and have the next one cookin'!
     - We attended 2 universities and finished 4 college degrees, 2 internships, and a preceptorship.
     - We saw a gas price increase of $1.17 per gallon.

Oh it's been fun.  This was actually the 3rd of our 5 anniversaries that we have celebrated right in the middle of moving.  I'd say we need to quit making major life changes during the summer... but perhaps the start of a new adventure is just the thing for something like an anniversary!
We did get to celebrate early with an evening out back in Boise.  I sure love having that goofball as my full-time sweetheart.  I can't imagine a better friend.
Bring on more years, we're loving them!

The Belly
This pregnancy has been getting a little gypped as far as press time goes... we've been busy.  But baby girl is steadily growing and kickin' around like crazy.  We are 25 weeks along and so far doing awesome!  I still feel like I'm getting big way faster this go around.  We're already having to sleep with a few extra pillows.  Not too uncomfy yet though, so no complaints!

He's Official
Well now.  Check out this stud!

Doesn't he look smooth??  Tim had his white coat ceremony the other night and officially kicked off the next four years of our lives.  From here on out he eats, drinks and sleeps school.  And he is actually really excited!  I am too.  He is such a cute smarty pants.  This all already looks so good on him, he'll be awesome!

A Little Out and About
We have been doing a little bit of running around.  On Saturday night the medical school hosted an evening at the zoo for the first year students and their families.  We had heard about the zoo before we even came out here.  It's actually rated the number one zoo in the US, and it is huge!  We were there for a couple hours and didn't even see a quarter of it.  But Brinlee did make fast friends with one of the gorillas there, and we did eat some delicious hot dogs.  We will definitely be going back.

New Addition
We've added a new friend to our little family.
Meet Jarvis.

Medical school ruined all my years of hard work and gave Tim an I-pad.  For some weird, perhaps totally irrational reason I tend to be a bit anti-gadget.  Call me old fashioned, but I kind of like to stick with pencil and paper.  Maybe less efficient (as Tim tells me, often), but why spend the money, right?
Well... though I hate to admit it.... I got my hands on the little bugger and it turns out I am kind of a fan of Jarvis.  Tim already new he would like it, he'd been dropping I-pad hints for the last 2 years. But Jarvis is slick, the PBS kids app is awesome!, Siri is pretty fun to talk to, and I can get way better Bejeweled scores.  Sweet!  Luckily Tim will have him most of the time, so hopefully I don't get too addicted.  But I can see us being friends.

And there you have it!  All the Borup family info I can think of for now.  We're all up to date.
Now, I think I'll go get some chocolate milk.  It sounds good right now, don't you think?

Ch-Ch-Changes

Did I mention that I really love Fall?

I love the little nip in the air, love the colors, love bundling up in blankets and sweaters, love making soup, and LOVE the leaves changing.  In fact, we've been getting into the spirit of season a bit and have been enjoying a few home-makeover changes.  We re-arranged our living room and kitchen, revamped all of our wall decor, and a couple weeks ago I found some fall crafty ideas and just couldn't help myself.

Last week we treated ourselves to a fall time classic favorite.  Tim really perfected the process, they turned out way better than they have in the past.  I still managed to make a huge mess of myself though.  How are you supposed to eat caramel apples anyway?

And what post would be complete without some pictures of Brin?
She is, after all, the cutest!

We have been trying to build up her cold weather repertoire and found a super good deal on a pair of little suede boots.  She is in love with them!  She pulls them out of her drawer and asks for them all the time.  Sometimes, the boots are all she will wear.  At least she already loves shoes... such a girl.

Goodbye Rexburg

Well... it has finally happened.  We are officially no longer Rexburgians  :(

I feel like this post won't quite be complete.  What it really needs is a photo/slow-motion-video memory montage with some sentimental musical ballad playing in the background like they do in the movies.  Life in review always seems better that way, if only I were that computer savvy...

Moving has been a bitter sweet of course.  We LOVED Rexburg and are leaving behind some wonderful memories.  The home we came to as a newly married couple was there (bless that bathroom-less place!), the home we brought Brinlee home to was there, the school that gave us both degrees is there, and our very best friends were there.

Such good times! But alas, life moves on, and here we are now becoming Blackfootians.  I think so far we still need to explore the area a bit.  But we certainly are in love with our new apartment!

Never mind the fact that we clearly need to do a bit more unpacking/decorating/cleaning, our new home is brand new and completely adored!  We've actually been taking note and compiling a list of "firsts" that we are enjoying since the move.  So far this apartment has been
       - our first garbage disposal
       - our first second bedroom
       - our first bedroom connected to a bathroom
       - our first washer and dryer (thank you Amy!)
       - our first dishwasher
       - our first designated parking spot
       - our first thermostat
       - our first back porch
       - our first encounter with counter space
       - our first doorbell

The day we moved was our anniversary and we actually really enjoyed spending the day reminiscing fond memories and looking forward to new adventures.  We will be here about a year while I get some ICU experience, Tim gets a Master's degree, and Brinlee learns to walk.  Certainly lots of wonderful things to look forward to.

But, dear Rexburg, you will always hold a special place in our hearts!

From Bedroom to Baby Room... and Then Some

Well, it's happened... our little home has officially been taken over by baby!

Unborn baby that is.  We're on the last stretch of the due date count down and a few weeks ago decided we ought to think about making room for the bundle of joy and all her stuff.  Moving to a new place just in time for Tim to graduate didn't seem to make a ton of sense, but we are lacking in a second bedroom.  Thus we initiated the "Bedroom to Baby Room" project.

And then we advanced to the "Home for 2 to Home for 3" project.  We now have a  bathroom with a baby tubby, a hallway cupboard packed with diapers, a kitchen of bibs and bottles, and a living room bookshelf lost to baskets full of toys, burp clothes, and passies.  So much fun!!!  Oh!  And my favorite baby home makeover feature:

And we are set!  Home for two converted to home for three, steadily growing, and happy as ever!

Where I Kick Off My Shoes

There truly is no place like home!  (insert small dog, sparkly red shoes, and heel clicking here)

After a lot of unpacking, a lot of cleaning, and a little bit of recovery-napping (on my part anyway), we are happy to announce that all of the boxes are unpacked and our little place finally feels like home again!  :)  Thankfully we were able to come back to the place we were before (see here) which we were glad about, we love the apartment!  I am still trying to decide where to hang all of our pictures, so the walls are a little bare. And we're experimenting with some furniture rearranging... But the book shelves are stacked, the cupboards are full, and we are back to eating home-made food!  Though I will surely miss pizza and Taco Bell, you can't beat home cookin'!  And the soup we had tonight was SO yummy!!

Ok, I'll share, it's "souper" easy! (I crack myself up)  Just boil a cup and a half to 2 cups of your favorite mixed beans until they're soft.  Then add:
- ham hocks (I used shredded chicken)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large can of tomatoes (fresh works too)
- 1 pepper pod or 1 tsp. chili powder
- the juice of 1 lemon
- 1 to 3 cloves minced garlic
- salt and pepper to taste
Let simmer for 30 minutes and enjoy a yummy, healthy, heart warming meal!  We'll be putting it on the "make again" list for sure.

And now on to enjoying a nice evening at home... such bliss!  Now if I could only beat Tim just once at this blasted game of Tetris life would be complete...

Oh yeah... we moved

So as it turns out, good old Davenport Men's Apartments is being retired (read: torn down because of bed bug infestation... yuck!). So we moved to a new little place! It's a super cute basement apartment just a few blocks away, so we'll get to stay in the same ward. AND it comes complete with a bathroom that isn't out the front door! Sweet!!

(This travel system actually worked out quite a bit better than it looks)

And a little baby Borup. We're hoping to get tomatoes from him, we'll see how we do

It's Not Easy Being Green

Well, we decided that the awful pink paint in our apartment had more than worn out its welcome (if it ever had one) and definitely needed to go! And Tim, being the handy man that he is, jumped at the opportunity for a do it yourself home project. So, I picked out the paint, Tim did the work, and Ta Da! It's like a whole new apartment! We decided on green, a very lovely shade if I do say so myself.
It looks something like this,

and went on something like this,

But for some reason all the pictures turn out like this.

Not attractive! It really doesn't look that green though, and it feels way better than the pink! We never actually officially got permission to do this, but I think it's safe to say they won't mind the improvement.

No Match for a Manly Man

Since we moved in there have been a few manly projects that have needed taken care of:

Fixing the vacuum...

Building a book shelf...

But never fear, no job is too much for Manly Man Tim! He's been working on this scruff for a while now and I hate to say it, but this is all there is to show for it...

Maybe beards just aren't for everyone

Home Sweet Home?

Yesterday Tim and I moved into our first apartment together! I'd like to say that it's nice and nothing but the two of us.... but as it turns out we are sharing with 28 boys! We were super lucky to be able to get a management position, which means we won't be paying for rent! Woot!! It's kind of a goofy little place though (read: somewhat creepy). It actually used to be Rexburg's first hospital, if that gives any clues. But the walls in our apartment are an awful pink color. Oh yeah, and our bathroom is actually out the front door and down the hall! It's our own private bathroom, thank goodness! But somehow we ended up with the detached facilities. Should be interesting!

Tah dah! Welcome to Davenport Men's!

And here is the arduous journey... I counted 10 steps it takes me from the front door to my bathroom, a new experience for me I must admit. Let's just hope I never wake up in the night needing to use the restroom, because there is no way I'm making that walk by myself in the dark!
