Graduation

Last weekend my best friend graduated from Utah State with her degree in business entrepreneurship, how exciting! We were able to go down to Logan and see her, so much fun!! It makes me look forward to the day when I'm finally done with school... if only. That a girl Darcy!

Tim of course had an excellent time, he just loves giggling girl talk and long car rides...

DeeAnna's 22!

Well, I'm one year older and wiser too... or so they say, we'll see if it's true... but it was a good birthday! I got to celebrate twice, lucky me! The weekend before my birthday Tim took me out to dinner at Olive Garden and bought me flowers and made a cake, yellow with chocolate frosting, my favorite!

And the next weekend my mom and sister treated me to Ruby Tuesday and presents! So much fun! Getting older really isn't as bad as they say. Here's to you 22!

Back to School

Well school has started up again and is definitely rockin' and rollin'! I successfully survived my first semester of the nursing program and am now 2 weeks into the second one... they don't waist any time that's for sure. We have already had a big test and last Thursday we didn't leave the lab until 10:00 pm. And Tim is just as busy.... I think... we don't really see each other. Long days so far! But the operating room is sweet! Here's to science degrees!

Bananas

Once upon a time there was a newly married couple. They were young and happy enjoying life, each others company, and the weekly shopping trips to Broulims grocery store.

Early on in their marriage they discovered a mutual love for bananas, yet another reason why they were the perfect match! Each week they would buy a nice batch and enjoy the sweet, yet nutritious treat in cereal, ice cream, as a smoothie, over waffles, or even just simply peeled and eaten plain.

However, as time went on and new favorites were discovered (namely apples, celery, and broccoli), bananas slowly fell out of favor. Though they remained on the weekly shopping list, often not all of them would get eaten before they were too ripe to be enjoyable. In an effort to not be wasteful, at the end of each week the couple would throw the brown-spotted, unused bananas in the freezer - "surely there could be some use for them later" they would say. But as schedules got busier, the good intentions for the bananas remained merely good intentions... and so the frozen banana pile grew, lonely and largely forgotten.

Finally, one day while searching for something yummy for lunch (probably chicken nuggets), the forgotten bananas were rediscovered and the couple decided it was time to put the pile to use. After much deliberation, the perfect idea was settled on and the young wife made a call to the greatest chef in all the land (thanks mom!). And thus, the banana bread addiction was born! After a little work and an hour of passing baking time playing card games, they had a warm, delicious treat that they instantly fell in love with. And they have had at least a loaf a week ever since!

If you concentrate, you could probably smell the sweet smell of the banana baked goods coming from their home even now... and if you're lucky, they may share.

Banana Bread:

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 Cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 Cup mashed bananas
1/2 cup softened butter
1/2 cup sour cream
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Mix dry ingredients well. Mix bananas, butter, sour cream, eggs and vanilla well and then add dry ingredients. Mix about 2 mins. Add nuts if desired and bake at 350 in greased loaf pan for one hour, or until toothpick comes out clean.

Valentine

I have the best valentine ever! For Valentine's day Tim whipped up one my favorite dishes, chile relleno! He learned how to make it on his mission, and it just so happens that I love Mexican food!!! What a match! And cupcakes for dessert? Perfecto!

And Here's 2010

Well, 2009 has officially come and gone... kind of sad I think, it was an awesome year! But new year new things! And 2010 already seems to have some good potential. We've outlined a few goals (not New Year's resolutions, for some reason using that title prevents me from accomplishing anything):

1. Be better journal keepers
2. Take more pictures
3. Survive school
4. Pick up a new hobby
5. Go some place new

I have a feeling #3 will occupy most of my attention, we'll see how the others go. But 2010, here's lookin' at you!

PS, thanks to the Borups for a fun-filled heralding in of the new year, we had a blast!
