Mallows

My mom informed me this morning that today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day!  Fantastic!!!  And how do you pass up toasted marshmallow day without enjoying some sticky white goodness?!

We followed the instructions from this childhood favorite here (highly recommended... both the treat and the movie that is) and voila!

Happy Mallow Day one and all!

Happy Campers

This last week we went camping up in Island Park with Tim's family... clarification: This last week we spent a few days "cabin-ing" up in Island Park with Tim's family.

Tim has made it quite clear that what we were doing is not camping, which may be true.  But spending a couple days out in nature without ever being without a toilet or hot showers is my kind of camping.  In any case we had a blast.

On day one we ventured up/over to West Yellowstone and spent the day with the bears.

Day two we journeyed up to the lake and enjoyed a few hours of beach bumming

And day three we went up to some peak nearby and enjoyed a quite chilly and windy but really neat view.

Brinlee got lots of cousin lovies, I got addicted to tomahawk throwing, and of course we ate more than our share of smores.  Absolutely excellent!

And we made it out without one single mosquito bite. Success!!!  I think I could really get into camping.  Oops, I mean cabin-ing

Bumbo

We are the parents of an angel baby who is growing way too fast!
Recently Brinlee has decided that she is too much of a big girl for all of that baby stuff (read: lying down in any way, shape, or form while awake) and has grown super attached to a new friend.
Her name is Bumbo.

She LOVES that thing!  She takes it with her everywhere.

Ok... so, we actually haul it all over the house for her and put her in it wherever we are.  It's a pretty slick system though.  After all, happy baby equals happy mommy and daddy!  And two free hands in the kitchen is a bonus I don't mind at all.

Who knew this thing would be such a hit?  Brinlee and Bumbo are practically inseparable.

And I don't mind the friendship.  I mean really, who can resist that sweet happy face?!
Love that baby and her bumbo lovin'!

Goodbye Rexburg

Well... it has finally happened.  We are officially no longer Rexburgians  :(

I feel like this post won't quite be complete.  What it really needs is a photo/slow-motion-video memory montage with some sentimental musical ballad playing in the background like they do in the movies.  Life in review always seems better that way, if only I were that computer savvy...

Moving has been a bitter sweet of course.  We LOVED Rexburg and are leaving behind some wonderful memories.  The home we came to as a newly married couple was there (bless that bathroom-less place!), the home we brought Brinlee home to was there, the school that gave us both degrees is there, and our very best friends were there.

Such good times! But alas, life moves on, and here we are now becoming Blackfootians.  I think so far we still need to explore the area a bit.  But we certainly are in love with our new apartment!

Never mind the fact that we clearly need to do a bit more unpacking/decorating/cleaning, our new home is brand new and completely adored!  We've actually been taking note and compiling a list of "firsts" that we are enjoying since the move.  So far this apartment has been
       - our first garbage disposal
       - our first second bedroom
       - our first bedroom connected to a bathroom
       - our first washer and dryer (thank you Amy!)
       - our first dishwasher
       - our first designated parking spot
       - our first thermostat
       - our first back porch
       - our first encounter with counter space
       - our first doorbell

The day we moved was our anniversary and we actually really enjoyed spending the day reminiscing fond memories and looking forward to new adventures.  We will be here about a year while I get some ICU experience, Tim gets a Master's degree, and Brinlee learns to walk.  Certainly lots of wonderful things to look forward to.

But, dear Rexburg, you will always hold a special place in our hearts!

Three Years... and One Week

Last Wednesday we celebrated 3 wonderful years of married life!

We actually spent the day moving, hence why this post is late, and hence why it isn't full of a more exciting celebratory report.  I suppose we'll have to make up for it later...
probably at Olive Garden...
where else is there?

It doesn't feel like it has been near that long at all.
Three years have sure gone by fast....
But they have been nothing but wonderful!

www.Internet-less.com

And we're back.  Finally!  We have spent the last seven days living out of boxes and (gasp), without internet.  Double bummer.  I hate to say it... but internet-less living it kind of lame.  We have had no new recipes, no driving instructions, no wikipedia, no web MD, and worst of all, no olympic updates.  What a bummer time to be offline.

Thank goodness we're back with it, I have some youtube Phelps and Lochte highlights to catch up on.

On a happier note, we are officially moved, almost officially unpacked, on our way to being official Blackfootians, and officially loving our new apartment!  Yes, we have uprooted once again and yes, I will have pictures... once I locate the camera battery charger...

In the meantime, go team USA
