....and the livin' is easy.
We smile a little easier, when summer comes around. No school, some time off work, and a darling little toddler wearing shorts and sandals. Yes indeed, it's good times, sunshine, and summertime! It took its time getting here, but the summer breeze is makin' us feel fine.
A couple weeks ago we went for drive/walk/picnic up Wolverine canyon. It was nice, and Brin took a surprisingly awesome nap.
It was the park all over again (see here). Love is not the word I would use now after the fact. She tolerated it. She did get a kick out of the monkeys though. And chased a chicken.
Two weeks ago, Brin and I left daddy at home and spent a week in Utah with the Borup aunts, cousins, and grandma. We had a way good time. I drove a suburban full of kids ("good practice for later" they all told me) and tried on $2000 worth of pearls at Tiffany and Co. Brin played with cousins, swam, finally walked in grass without bawling, and fell down the stairs... twice...
Since then we've been spending some lazy hazy crazy days of summer here at home and are finally enjoying our back porch. Brinlee is 13 (soon to be 14) months now and I'm finding it harder and harder to stay up to speed with updates on her. Everyday she is doing something new. She is walking like crazy and "talks" constantly. She has become quite an independent little stinker, but she is so dang cute and just as fun as ever. She is finally cutting some top teeth and drinks milk by the sippy-fulls. We keep Veggie Tales in the Netflix queue and go through teddy grahams way too fast. She pretty regularly looks a bit like a boxing champ, thanks to her still slightly unsteady feet, but that little face will get ya every time!
And now I'm gonna soak up the sun and pose the question, oh what do you do in the summertime? We are up for more adventuring ideas!
PS, how many summer song lines can you count in this post? Confession, I could only think of a couple and had to google a few to make it worth the count, I'm not that lyric savvy...
