On Call

Tonight I am going for a walk, cuddling my baby, watching a movie with my husband, and sleeping in my own bed.  Big whoop right?  Eh hem, let me clarify:

Tonight I am
getting paid
to go for a walk, cuddle my baby, watch a movie with my husband, and sleep in my own bed.

Earlier this evening I was gearing up for another long night at the hospital... which inevitably takes a decent amount of effort... when wouldn't you know, they called and told me there are no patients in my unit and so, I am on call.  Oh beautiful little words, lets say them again: on call... What luck!!!  Nothing better than being able to exchange goodbye kisses for spontaneous fun-filled-evning plans.  Pure happiness!

Is it terrible to hope that my unit stays empty until after my shift tomorrow?  I have no complaints about a surprise empty schedule...

I'll keep my fingers crossed just in case

Baby Education

Life is exciting when you're so tiny.  New discoveries every day and boy have we been busy!  I could fill quite a few posts with picture proof of all the learning Brin's been doing lately... maybe eventually.  For now just a little update on what we've discovered.

1:  Tummy Time is not so bad after all
2:  Cereal is totally weird and we're not quite sure yet whether we like it or not
3:  The Pooh Movie is AWESOME!
4:  The bathtub equals happiness
5:  Rolling over will soon be on our check-off list
6:  A four-month-old body can and does take up an entire queen-size bed

I am omitting a list of the daddy/mommy/parenting learning that has taken place, that could fill more than quite a few posts... it doesn't make as cute of pictures anyway.

Visitors

Yesterday and today we enjoyed some very special visitors:

So fun for Brinlee to get to meet her great grandparents!  My MawMaw and PawPaw have always been two of my very favorite people and it was wonderful to see them with our little peanut.  She warmed right up to them too.  She cuddled up and slept with MawMaw Great and smiled and laughed for PawPaw Great.  Thanks so much for the visit, we LOVED seeing you!

Family Outings

Saturday evening we decided to venture out for a much needed family date.  Tim did all the planning... that's my favorite kind of outing  :)

We traveled up the old highway to Idaho Falls and enjoyed a nice evening of Olive Garden take-out and river-side strolling.  We were right in the middle of a bunch of ducks and geese, which Brinlee was excited/curious/confused/nervous about.  But she was an angel and the weather was awesome!

On the way home we devoured a super delicious cinnamon roll from Mrs. Powells... never mind the calorie count.  Tim should plan more often, it was the perfect evening!

It's Official

This morning when I left the hospital to head home it was officially chilly and "that smell" (you know the one) was hanging in the air...

which makes me afraid that we have officially seen the end of summer, and fall is for sure on its way...

I actually don't mind fall, it's a great time of year.  It's the snow that usually follows not long after fall that has me worried.  Is it really already that time again?  Time to unpack the sweaters I guess.  Cold weather here we come.

Fair Weather

Ferris wheels and fried food!  Yes indeed the Eastern Idaho Fair has made its debut here in Blackfoot.  Granted, it was a rather wet debut... but despite some serious rain and an impressively poopy diaper, we managed to make an appearance and had a pretty good time.  Shall we review?

Ok first of all, has there ever been a cuter fair-goer?!  :)  Such a sweet baby!

The list of totally unnecessary but absolutely delicious food we had includes but is not limited to a foot-long hot dog, cinnamon role, strawberry lemonade, and deep fried bacon... we don't regret any of it.

We went to a hypnotist show, which promptly got rained out so, that one stays on the to-do list.  The bull riding did go on however.  It turned quite chilly though, and unfortunately my jacket was sitting at home on the couch where I was supposed to remember to grab it. Classic.

We didn't get over to see many animals, the rain kept us trapped for a while.  It did motivate me to get into quilting and cake decorating though...  And Brinlee totally dug the bull riding.  She's made it a new hobby.

Overall, a success.  Next year we'll grab an umbrella... and scout out the super yummy looking cinnamon/sugar treats everyone had, they looked awesome.
