McKenna Grace Borup

We are absolutely in LOVE with her!  We are working up a post with all the "fun" details.  But for now-

Everyone is home and happy, mama and baby are doing great, watching these darling sisters together is totally the best!, and we are all feeling so lucky and so blessed to have this sweet little spirit in our home!

We LOVE this little lady and feel so blessed to have her in our little family!  We are home and happy, and mama and baby are doing great!  In fact, we're cooking up a nice juicy post with all of the fun details that I'm sure you are all dying to hear... stay tuned!

Bump

I have received multiple inquiries regarding this particular post topic and have been meaning to get it up for a while now... I apologize for my slow-ness.  But without further adieu, I give you, dear reader, the much anticipated and long overdue

Baby Bump!

Here is Bean at 15 weeks... and not yet really showing.  If you squint and tilt your head you can kind of make it out, but even then not really...

Holiday snacking was good for us though!  Here we are at 20 weeks and finally making an appearance...

And here we are now!  A happy 22 week baby and a happy mama!

Again, still anxiously awaiting the whole boy or girl excitement.  But he/she has become quite an active little wiggler and I've been able to feel him/her move quite a bit!  In fact, Tim has even felt a kick or two, though not a lot.  The baby gets a little shy for daddy.  While we were in Boise my wonderful sister-in-law passed down her maternity clothes (thanks Jaylene), so I've been experimenting with the pregnancy look a little bit...

And Mark It With a B

Well, it's official, Tim and I are excited to announce that we will be welcoming Baby Borup #1 in May!!! Little Bean got its first picture taken on Friday and looks just as snug and as happy as ever!

I am only about 8 1/2 weeks along and so far mama and baby are doing pretty good.  I've stayed pretty close to bed lately with some nausea and a few migraines.  And B has made it clear that he/she does not care for Italian salad dressing... but other than that we are pretty content.  We're just crossing our fingers that everything stays that way while we push through the end of this first trimester thing.

Little Bean is scheduled to be here May 15th.  I like May, it brings good things.  For starters, my grandmother, brother and I were all born in May.  And of course there's the arrival of May flowers, sunshiny weather, the "almost here" feeling of summer vacation,  and Mother's Day.  Plus there are already a few May cousins that B will be able to celebrate with.  What fun!

We won't know for a little while longer yet whether we're welcoming a girl or a boy, so I suppose if you have a vote you better get it in now (sorry Brian, I'm afraid no twins this time).  I think a grandma or two are crossing their fingers for a girl, but I have always thought it would be fun to start with a boy... and Tim is only anxious about helping with baby stuff if it's a boy ;)  We'll see I guess.  Either way we are anxious to get to know Baby B and look forward to our little family growing!

B is for Boise

'B’ can be for a lot of things, but most recently ‘B is definitely for Boise. For the past three weekends we haven’t slept in our own bed, instead we have been journeying to and from B-town!

Three weekends ago I drove over Saturday morning for a friends wedding that night, the next weekend we drove over for family pictures Saturday morning (which turned out super cute) and then burned rubber to get down to Utah for a nieces baptism Saturday night…

And last weekend we drove back over yet again, and Tim went home a lonely man. I have now been here almost a week and am kind of itchin’ for the next thing! Dr. Mangus in Indiana said that the sooner I get out there the better my chances of finding a job will be, but some details still need ironed out. So Tim is in Rexburg finishing up his semester, and I am now hanging out here where there’s an airport just in case things change and I need a quick ticket… otherwise I’ll be back on the Boise to Rexburg roadways in a few days. Love that drive  

Bananas

Once upon a time there was a newly married couple. They were young and happy enjoying life, each others company, and the weekly shopping trips to Broulims grocery store.

Early on in their marriage they discovered a mutual love for bananas, yet another reason why they were the perfect match! Each week they would buy a nice batch and enjoy the sweet, yet nutritious treat in cereal, ice cream, as a smoothie, over waffles, or even just simply peeled and eaten plain.

However, as time went on and new favorites were discovered (namely apples, celery, and broccoli), bananas slowly fell out of favor. Though they remained on the weekly shopping list, often not all of them would get eaten before they were too ripe to be enjoyable. In an effort to not be wasteful, at the end of each week the couple would throw the brown-spotted, unused bananas in the freezer - "surely there could be some use for them later" they would say. But as schedules got busier, the good intentions for the bananas remained merely good intentions... and so the frozen banana pile grew, lonely and largely forgotten.

Finally, one day while searching for something yummy for lunch (probably chicken nuggets), the forgotten bananas were rediscovered and the couple decided it was time to put the pile to use. After much deliberation, the perfect idea was settled on and the young wife made a call to the greatest chef in all the land (thanks mom!). And thus, the banana bread addiction was born! After a little work and an hour of passing baking time playing card games, they had a warm, delicious treat that they instantly fell in love with. And they have had at least a loaf a week ever since!

If you concentrate, you could probably smell the sweet smell of the banana baked goods coming from their home even now... and if you're lucky, they may share.

Banana Bread:

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 Cup sugar

1/4 tsp. salt

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1 Cup mashed bananas

1/2 cup softened butter

1/2 cup sour cream

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Mix dry ingredients well. Mix bananas, butter, sour cream, eggs and vanilla well and then add dry ingredients. Mix about 2 mins. Add nuts if desired and bake at 350 in greased loaf pan for one hour, or until toothpick comes out clean.

From He and She to We

On Saturday August 1st Tim and I were married for time and all eternity in the Boise Idaho Temple. It was a long day for sure, and incredibly hot... but otherwise absolutely perfect!! Both of our families were able to be there, it was so much fun and we couldn't have asked for anything more wonderful! Huge shout out to my fabulous planning committee and thanks to everyone who helped make this the most special day of our lives!! Here's to being a Borup!!!
