Sister Sunday

I get to watch the most wonderful moments with these sweet little sisters every day.
It's heaven on earth!
Do you mind if I share some?  I didn't think you would  :)
Happy Sunday!

World's Weirdest Obsession

Tim told me I shouldn't keep these pictures and should just forget and definitely never admit that it ever happened.  But I can't, it's too awesome.

A couple weeks ago we went to COSI, and they have an exhibit there that is all about life and the human body.  We of course were excited to see it, but figured Brinlee wouldn't love it.
That was not at all the case.
She was fascinated!  We spent a decent amount of time in there and were ready to move on before she was.  Toward the end of the exhibit they had a big light board with all kinds of different x-rays that you can look at, one of which was of a dog's broken leg.  And for some reason, she could not let that go.  After we got home she spent all day talking about that broken dog leg x-ray and wouldn't calm down for sleep that night until Tim had pulled up some images of x-rays on the computer for her to see one last time before bed.  He finally just printed one off for her, and she has carried it around with her ever since.  It's super weird, I know. But that tattered old "broken dog leg x-ray" paper has been more loved than most of her real toys.

We went back to COSI again today, and guess what exhibit she wanted to see first?  You'd have thought it was Christmas morning the way she lit up again when she saw that x-ray board....

SO weird.
The poor dear, she comes by it honestly.  Our house sees a lot of science/medical stuff, I suppose it's already rubbing off.  She has a real functional stethoscope in her toy box and can listen to and tell you what a heart sounds like.  She knows that bones and muscles are under her skin and likes to look at Tim's anatomy textbook (with supervision of course, we're not that brave).  She has a toy doctor kit and, when McKenna is willing, she can walk through a pretty impressive well baby check-up.  And she's most willing to sleep and eat when we remind her that naps and green drinks help her body's "happy bugs" get rid of "sicky bugs".

I don't know, maybe we should be trying to get this little obsession to simmer down a bit.
Then again, maybe we're raising some kind of prodigy child who will grow up to make miraculous medical discoveries...
Who knows.
But here's to our good friend, Broken Dog Leg X-Ray!

Dinner For Breakfast

I think I've mentioned before that Brinlee isn't the best eater.  She'll sit all night if the dinner option isn't something she loves.  Or even if it is something she loves but her mood isn't right.  It's frustrating.  So we started setting her a timer.  If she hasn't finished by the time she hears the ding, then we get her down and she gets to try again in the morning.
Dinner for breakfast. Yum.

Last night was a night she wouldn't eat.  So this morning she was awake, super hungry, and up to the table with that dinner in front of her by 6:15.  At 9:22, after I had gotten McKenna up and fed, started some laundry, bathed and dressed McKenna, taken my own shower, and put McKenna down for nap, I came down to find an empty plate and this...

It took her three hours, and tuckered her right out, but she did eat that dinner!
Poor thing.
It's tough being little.

Growing Too Fast

Yes it's happened. Our littlest dolly is yet another month older.
Stinker.
I tell her not to, but she just keeps getting bigger!  She "talks" and smiles all the time, is just about ready to roll over, is getting better at trying to sit up (with a little help still), and has decided that her own feet are the most amazing toy ever!  That's my favorite part.  Babies playing with their toes is the best  :)

She is absolutely the sweetest and cutest thing there ever was.  Her hair has gone pretty light, and she's actually lost most of it... luckily she usually keeps a bow on!  But she is always (and I mean always!) smiling! As quick as you make eye contact, she starts kicking her legs and breathing fast and opens her mouth as wide as she can get it in a smile.  She already likes to grab my face and give nice slobbery kisses.  And she is starting to laugh, a lot!  She giggles at the goofiest things, especially things that Brinlee does.  That girl can always get her going  :)
She can be a little bit of a drama queen already.  Whenever she drops a toy she completely breaks down, very loudly and high pitched.  And if she doesn't want laid down on the floor, she lets you know.  But for the most part she is content, and wonderful!

Is it terrible that most days I get nothing done? I get too caught up kissing on this sweet baby.
Can you blame me??
I love her.

Happy Easter

Now that I have all our pictures uploaded I am realizing I wasn't a very good picture taker this Easter.  I didn't even get one of the girls toegether!  Lame-O.

But we had a wonderful conference weekend and Easter Sunday.  The Easter Bunny found us and left some goodies  :)  There were baskets for both Brinlee and McKenna, but Brinlee went ahead and dug through both baskets herself.
We did dye a few eggs, and did have creamed eggs on toast.  But for the most part we just enjoyed relaxing and being together.  This was the first year we've had a little someone to teach the Easter story to who could really understand it, and it made the weekend all the more special.  Hearing Brinlee talk about Jesus and the first Easter weekend really strengthened my testimony of my Savior and His divine mission, and reminded me just how grateful I am to know that He Lives!

Hope everyone's Easter was magical!

More March

I've been slow with updates, so we'll just go ahead and get it all up and bombard the blog!
Here is the rest of March.

I forgot to mention our awesome (read: not so great and really not so welcome) spring break surprise.  Waking up to snow!  The last week of March... after we had been teased with really nice weather.  Makes for a very unhappy mama.

We started a chore chart for Brinlee.  Stickers on her chart every day for picking up toys, making her bed, putting away her clothes, and helping unload the dishwasher.  A treat at the end of the week for a full chart.  It's worked like a charm!  And McKenna is already taking after Big Sis.  Such helpers!

Brinlee still isn't much of an eater.  We have so many priceless, and frustrating moments while she's in that chair.

For the month of March I got this brilliant idea to decorate with Lucky Charms... it took 3 boxes of cereal and way too much time to sort out all those marshmallows.  I'm not sure I'll do that again.

Brinlee likes to point out the sad distance between Idaho and Ohio  :(

Sweet McKenna baby is getting so big!  She is so close to rolling over I can hardly stand it.  She'll be off and on the move way too soon.

Last Spring Break Ever

Two weeks ago Tim took a final exam and then kicked off what we realized will be his last spring break.  Ever.  Apparently grown-ups don't get those any more? That's seriously unfortunate.  We loved having a stress-and-study-free daddy for 10 whole days!
Here's the run down.

Thursday after Tim's test we did homemade pizza dinner, and we actually enjoyed a movie together without Tim reviewing flash cards!  :)

Saturday we had a waffle breakfast, played at the park, flew Brinlee's first kite, played with puppies at the pet store (Brinlee's choice of course), and had lunch at McDonald's.  I'm lovin' it!  :)

Wednesday Grandma and Grandpa Borup got into town!  We were very excited to see them (and in McKenna's case, to meet them!).

Thursday we went to COSI.  It's a HUGE science museum/hands-on learning center.  Brinlee was fascinated!  I was surprised at what caught her attention.  And McKenna did awesome.  She slept most of the time.  Her favorite though was her pacifier.  Her hands have figured out how to get it and she was mesmerized  :)

Friday evening the girls stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa while Tim and I went to dinner and a movie.  We don't get that often.  It was magical!

Saturday we went to the botanical gardens to see the butterfly room.
It is still weird to be out with a full double stroller.  And not just full, but full of kids!  Our kids!  Plural!!!  We sure love those blue eyed angel babies  :)

Monday Tim had to go back to school.  Too bad.  But we enjoyed another few days of grandparents!  We went to the library, and to the park, and Brinlee got her hairs trimmed!

Grandma and Grandpa were supposed to fly out yesterday, but April Fools!, their flights had some trouble, so we got them for one more bonus night.  Woo!  When they actually caught their flights home today we were all a little sad.

And now it's back to the old grind and goodbye to spring breaks.
Boo.
Grown up life can be kind of a bummer sometimes.
