We didn't have big plans for the 4th of July this year, not any pre-planned plans anyway. But we found ourselves headed into a 3 day holiday weekend and decided there was really no reason for us to be bored. So we made some quick last minute plans that ended up being pretty perfect!
Columbus did their big firework show on Friday night, so when Tim got home from school we packed up a dinner and two very excited girls and headed downtown for the night! The girls were 100% darling in their patriotic gear!
Having to sit and wait for so long can be really tough for such small, busy bodies. But there were bands playing, and people to watch, and snacks to eat, and for the most part, they really did awesome dancing around and staying happy. Which was entertaining for us as well!
And the firework show was well worth the wait!
Seriously just look at these divas. Might there be a modeling career in their future?
Love these ladies!
Saturday we drove over to Alum Creek reservoir and checked out "the beach". Brinlee has been asking for the beach all summer, and she could not have been any more excited! Or any more darling to watch. She jumped right in that water and played all afternoon. She did eventually say that she was a little disappointed that she didn't see any sea creatures, or crabs... but overall she was one very happy camper.
McKenna was a little more unsure about the whole thing. But it didn't take her long to figure it out, and then she was just as busy, and just as darling!
I took way more pictures than I should have, but can you blame me? The beach is magical, and these girls are stinkin' cute!
The dad life.
Awe... sweet beach buns!
Monday was the actual 4th of July, and was also the day with the crummiest weather. We didn't really do much but sit inside, relax, and watch it rain. We did go to a bbq that evening though just down the street with some friends. Because really, can you celebrate Independence Day without some chips and grilled food?
Such a good weekend.
Happy Birthday America!
Our family is forever grateful for all these freedoms, and all this fun!
