Nurse's Note: Family Documentation

Not many of you may know this, but every nurse is at least bilingual.
It's true.
Medical profession folk are blessed with the ability to speak in legal documentation.

It's kind of fun actually.  The whole point of the language is to think of the most unnatural way to say something, and then type it for permanent record purposes.  Most of the time it's just time consuming and awkward.  But I have wondered at times what a night of my life would sound/look like if I were to document it the way I would a hospital note...

Dinner prepared and eaten without incident or complication.  Husband compliant with dish-duty at this time, encouraged to call for assistance as needed.  Angel baby in bed sleeping soundly, no s/s of distress or discomfort.  Dry diaper on, pacifier within reach.  Toys put away, baby monitor on and functioning.  Clean clothes folded, front door locked, Christmas tree lights glowing.  Warm pajamas applied and hot chocolate brewing as per wife request.  Husband and wife enjoying eachother's company. No complaints or further needs noted at this time.

Even in awkward nursing note language my life sounds pretty awesome.  Seriously, SO blessed!

The Four Seasons

As far as I know, the elementary school curriculum is still teaching that the four seasons of the year are Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.  However, those receiving the Borup family education learn that the four seasons of the year are
Spring,
Summer,
Soup,
and Christmas Music

It is no secret that (understatement alert) I am not the biggest fan of cold weather.  But I am however a huge fan of the things that cold weather brings and absolutely love this time of year!  It's just magical, don't you think?
We sadly have not seen much snow yet. But we have enjoyed several pots of tummy-friendly soup and have been playing/singing (/dancing to, but wouldn't admit it) Christmas music as much as we can.  It's the recipe for insta-happy home, I recommend it to everyone.

Happy Soup and Christmas Music season from our happy family to yours.  We hope it brings you as many smiles as it has for us!

6 Month Sweetie

On November 4th Miss Brin was half-a-year old.  Yesterday she was 7 months.
And I have decided that the world has never seen a cuter baby.
That little round angel is by far the most wonderful thing there ever was!

I rest my case.
She is completely monopolizing the role of entertainer at our house, I don't think we've ever smiled so much.  It's fantastic!  This mama and dada couldn't be happier!

Thanks Jaylene for the fabulous photos!

To-Do's and Done's

I took a brief hiatus from blogging in hopes that I would be more motivated to get a couple unfinished projects taken care of.  Productivity Report: none of those projects are done... apparently I need some practice focusing.

We did however successfully enjoy a few trick-or-treaters, Tim's 25th birthday, Brinlee's 6 month birthday, Thanksgiving, a few games of Tetris, a delicious pie, and lots of baby cuddles.

Not a bad list of "all done's".  Which makes me feel less worried (as if I was worried) about the "not done's".  A trade-off I can be totally happy with.  And yes, my "to-do" list has been tucked away, yet again, where I can't see it.  I'll pull it out and look at it again sometime...
later...
perhaps

First Halloween

I have the best church calling ever!!!
Twice a month I get to relive my childhood primary days with the
8 and 9 year old activity day girls!
So much fun!
And today we had a Halloween party!
I dressed as a cat... which ended up looking more like a mouse...
and with me I brought the world's cutest ladybug!!!

Happy first Halloween from Ladybug Brin,
and mommy mouse...
I'll need something better for the real halloween for sure...

Yellowstone

Last week we took a few days and enjoyed a family trip up to Yellowstone.  Really, we were trying to figure out why this was our fist time, we've been Eastern Idaho folk for over three years now...

But, none the less, we went and we had a blast!  Everyone says that this time of year is the time to go; all the animals are out and the crowds are down.  I don't really know what Yellowstone looks like in the summer, but the animals sure were out, and we felt like we were the only people in the park.  It was awesome.

The one downside though: it was chilly (read: super cold!).  The name of the game became bundle up and the objective was to stay warm.  Brinlee was the team captain... poor baby.  You know in the movie A Christmas Story when he says that "preparing for school in the winter was like preparing for extended deep sea diving"?  Yup... I at first was afraid I had overpacked, but she wore every layer, every day.  And she was stylish.

Tim won the style contest though for sure.  Rockin' the front pack... very smooth.

We got caught in the rain a time or two, and thus perfected the art of taking turns.  That is, Tim goes and sees the thing we stopped for while I wait in the car with the baby, and then we switch.  Luckily we didn't have to do it too many times, but it was fun to watch Brin watch the rain.

Overall we had a wonderful time.  Brinlee did awesome, the weather was generally awesome, and the time with my sweetheart was awesome!  Consensus: October is indeed a great time to go to Yellowstone.  Goal for next time: see a moose... still sad about that...
